This sweet husband hilariously misunderstood what his wife wanted for an anniversary gift
Communication is key in any relationship — and it’s a good thing these newlyweds figured that out early on.
Charlema Webb’s husband, Vincent Webb, misunderstood exactly what it was that his wife wanted as a gift for their one-month wedding anniversary.
He tried his hardest to get her something she’d like — but what she asked for and what he gave her were two very different things.
A Funny Misunderstanding
Thankfully, the couple was able to have a good laugh about the whole thing, because the mix-up truly was unintentional, harmless and actually quite hilarious.
According to a Facebook post detailing the story, Vincent’s wife asked for “highlighter and a brush to go with it.”
She requested the highlighter come from Fenty (a beauty brand founded by Rihanna), if at all possible.

Anyone with an understanding of makeup would have understood exactly what it was she was asking for.
But her husband was clearly confused — and didn’t realize it until it was too late.
Here’s what he gave his wife:
A Gracious Acceptance Of Unexpected Gift
Yup. She was the lucky recipient of a pack of Sharpie highlighters and a hairbrush. Which was — thoughtful?
But definitely not what she was expecting or what she asked for.
Lucky for him, his wife was gracious about the gift.
“At the time, I didn’t say anything because he told me that he had gone to a few drug stores [looking for Fenty, but could only find Sharpie],” Charlema told Buzzfeed. “The next day, I told him and we both laughed ourselves to tears.”
And according to the Facebook post, it was the hardest she’d ever laughed “in [her] life.”
But she also noted that the couple learned a lot from the experience.
“Communication is key to a healthy relationship,” she told Buzzfeed. “Never assume someone knows what you mean.”
Company Rescues Anniversary Gift Goof
And all’s well that ends well. In this case, Fenty saw their story and said they’re working on getting her the gift she actually wanted:

Charlema also announced that her husband is “the highlight of [her] life,” anyways:

So whether he got her the Fenty product she wanted or not — they both still win.
Congratulations to the couple — and here’s to hoping the makeup product she wanted all along arrives soon!
Man Posts Heartfelt Review Of Rihanna’s Makeup Line On Behalf Of His Wife
Rihanna’s beauty products are also making waves in other ways.
Fenty Beauty—named after the 29-year-old singer’s last name—launched in September 2017, and made quite a splash right away, pulling in a whopping $72 million in just one month. The line even snagged a spot in Time Magazine’s list of the 25 Best Inventions of 2017.
.@TIME mag named @fentybeauty one of the 25 best inventions of 2017! I'm honored and I have to send love to everyone who's supported this brand in the 2months that we've been here! Glory to the Most High. https://t.co/sGxsiO6wxA pic.twitter.com/GsPG64A93P

What makes Fenty Beauty so groundbreaking in the cosmetics world is that it’s more than skin deep. For example, the company offers 40 different shades of foundation. Why so many? Rihanna told InStyle, “That was very important to me. I wanted everyone to feel included. We actually started with foundation because it’s the very first makeup product I fell in love with.”
Fenty’s website reads: “Rihanna was inspired to create Fenty Beauty after years of experimenting with the best-of-the-best in beauty—and still seeing a void in the industry for products that performed across all skin types and tones. She launched a makeup line ‘so that women everywhere would be included,’ focusing on a wide range of traditionally hard-to-match skin tones, creating formulas that work for all skin types, and pinpointing universal shades.”
And customers have responded with love. One man left a review on Fenty’s website on behalf of his wife, personally thanking Rihanna for creating a product that he says has helped his wife “regain some of her confidence and helped her with her reluctance to leave our home due to her skin imperfections.”
In his review of Fenty’s Pro Filt’r foundation, the man, named Darryl, explained that his wife suffers from cutaneous lupus erythematosus, which causes pigmentation variations and scarring. “NOTHING has worked as well as this Fenty foundation … I hope this message reaches Rihanna so she knows how much she is helping the love of my life get through the struggle of her affliction,” Darryl wrote, according to BuzzFeed.
Thank You to my Husband for Loving Me So Much❤️! And Thank You to Rihanna for making me Feel Beautiful 💋💜❤️ https://t.co/y06hbwjYkb
