This toddler insisted on having a scary nun-themed birthday party—and the pictures are amazing

In the age of Pinterest, it’s a given that more parents than ever before are willing to go above and beyond to see that their children’s birthday party dreams come true. So when soon-to-be 3-year-old Lucia Brown requested a scary nun-themed birthday party, her parents had to deliver.

Apparently, the toddler had been requesting this birthday theme for months. She was inspired by the film “The Nun,” which she became obsessed with after seeing a bit of the movie at her grandmother’s house and then demanding to see the film in full.

“[Lucia’s grandmother and her father] told her it wasn’t a cartoon, but she insisted,” Lucia’s mom, Laura Brown, told “Good Morning America.”

In case — unlike the toddler — you’ve yet to see “The Nun,” the film focuses on a pair sent by the Vatican to solve the mysterious death of a nun. They encounter a “demonic nun” in the process.

After seeing the film, Lucia couldn’t get the idea of a horror birthday party out of her head.

“I kept asking her for months and the answer was always the same: ‘The Nun. The Nun. The Nun.’ I told her, ‘No way, you are going to choose Rapunzel,'” the mom told “Good Morning America.”

But in the end, the parents went with what Lucia wanted and, thankfully, pictures from the party made their way to the internet.

A cousin who attended the party posted photos to Twitter writing, “So it was my cousins [sic] 3rd birthday and instead of having a normal theme she chose this.”

It wasn’t long before the photos got quite a bit of attention online, even seeing responses from A-listers such as Jordan Peele who wrote, “Does she have a Godfather?”:

The cousin responded saying the job was Peele’s if he wanted it:

“The Nun” actress Bonnie Aarons even got in on the Twitter action wishing Lucia a “Happy Birthday” and “Happy every day”:

But not only was the party a big hit online, but those in attendance had a blast, too. The festivities included a pinata and a cake in keeping with the party’s theme.

The mom posted photos to Facebook that are a mix of horrifying and hilarious:

The cake looks frighteningly delicious:

Believe it or not, this actually isn’t the strangest birthday party theme ever requested by a toddler. In fact, when a little girl named Audrey turned 3, she requested a poop-themed birthday party — which makes the nun thing seem pretty tame.

Scary nuns, poop — kids ask for the darnedest birthday themes! What will they think up next?
