This Video Breaks Down The Best Ways To Fight Wrinkles

Even if you’re not concerned about getting fine lines and wrinkles, it’s still important to take care of your skin so that you’re glowing from the inside out.

This fun video from Allure explains some of the science behind why wrinkles occur and teaches you how to easily combat the onset of creases.

Ok, so let’s talk science. As the video explains, your skin produces collagen and elastin to maintain structure and elasticity. But, the levels of collagen and elastin present in your young-looking, firm skin begin decreasing as early as age 20.

But, through applying harmless anti-aging topical creams and making some adjustments to your diet, you can trick your skin into thinking it’s younger than it is to help it stand the test of time.

The key ingredients you’re looking for in your skin ointments are retinoids, alpha hydroxyl acids (these exfoliate the skin), peptides, and antioxidants.

You can also incorporate antioxidant-rich foods into your diet by simply eating a few more blueberries or a nice big eggplant every so often.

So, if you can find products with these anti-aging properties, snatch them up. Because your skin is going to thank you in the best way possible if you do!

Oh and don’t forget the sunscreen! SPF is also an important factor. It’s always a good idea to wear at least SPF 30. As a gentle reminder, sunscreens to lose effectiveness over time. According to the Mayo Clinic, “Sunscreens are designed to remain at original strength for up to three years.”

So while you may be able to use leftover sunscreen from last year, be sure to check and see if there’s an expiration date. After that date, the sunscreen may no longer be as effective at protecting you and your family against the sun’s harmful rays.

If your sunscreen doesn’t have an expiration date, I recommend to mark the year you purchased it with a permanent marker on the bottle or tube. Because the sunscreen may have been manufactured a year or so in advance, after 1-2 years, toss it and start with a fresh bottle.
