Thomas Rhett And Lauren Akins welcome a baby girl

Thomas Rhett and wife Lauren Akins didn’t plan to become parents to an adopted daughter and give birth to a baby girl within months of each other. But that’s exactly the way things worked out.

The proud parents welcomed a little girl from Uganda, Willa Gray, into their family back in May and now, they’re the mom and dad to another beautiful baby girl.

The couple announced that Lauren had the baby on Aug. 12. They named her Ada James Akins.

Thomas Rhett Thrilled With Having Two Daughters

Posting to Instagram, Akins shared a bit of her birth story.

“Our baby girl is here,” she wrote. “Sweet Ada James Akins came into the world at 10:28 last night after almost 36 hours of labor (only Jesus got me through that-& she is sooo worth it).”

Rhett shared a similar message, writing about how proud he was to witness his daughter’s birth.

“Last night at 10:28 PM Ada James Akins was born and it was truly the most amazing thing I have ever experienced. I can’t believe that we have two daughters!! My wife @laur_akins labored almost 36 hours,” he wrote. “She is by far the strongest human being I have ever met and I have a new found respect for moms around the world. We are so excited that Willa Gray has a baby sister!”

Little Willa and Ada are beautiful additions to the family, and according to their mom, having them both feels like it’s “all part of the plan.”

“We tried to get pregnant for a little bit before,” Akins told People. “It was a good chunk of time and our family is extremely fertile, so I was expecting it to happen easily. I was like, ‘Maybe this is the Lord’s way of telling me adoption is what he wants me to do.’ And I was okay with that.”

“It’s funny to me how we tried so hard and then we didn’t try at all and it happened!”

Definitely seems like it’s meant to be!

Ada has already shared her first smile, and her mom promises there will be many photos to come. So, stay tuned for even more adorable-ness.
