3 private islands are for sale in Belize — and they cost less than some houses

Have you ever dreamed of having a private island all to yourself? Three private islands off the coast of Southern Belize are currently on the market, and they’re all priced under $530,000. That’s less than you’d pay for the average home in some of America’s largest markets, including Los Angeles, New York City and Honolulu.

These islands are blank canvasses just waiting for you to create something amazing. Each one is virtually undeveloped or — at most — have a handful of structures on them. Here’s a look at the three islands you could call home.

The first island is 1.5 acres. Located off the coast of Dangriga Town in southern Belize, four miles from the barrier reef, it’s priced at $525,000. The listing notes that the island is ideal for boat access and snorkeling. It would be a great setting for a private estate as well.

There’s another 1-acre island off the Southern Coast that’s on sale for $350,000. The listing notes that it’s within a mile of multiple other islands, which make up a portion of the Belize Barrier Reef Reserve System UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Surrounded by shallow, warm waters, the island provides enough space to build several houses or cabanas. Grab your friends and family and make your own private paradise! There’s also a natural cove with deep water that would provide the ideal location for a dock.

The smallest island of the bunch is still a bit over half an acre in size. It’s located on the Tobacco Caye Range, 30 minutes off the coast of Dangriga. It includes five existing structures with a total of nine bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms. Built in 2009, the structures are in need of repair but have great potential, and the site could even be converted into a small resort. Also included are three piers and a boat.
