Throwback Picture Of Stephen Colbert Has The Internet Going Crazy

Why do you enjoy watching “The Late Show?” Is it because of Stephen Colbert’s wit and his sense of humor? Probably, yes. But, apparently, for some people, it may be more than that.

Thanks to Reddit, a throwback picture of young Stephen Colbert surfaced online, and his good looks have sent the internet into a tizzy.

The 1984 photo was posted by ArtieStation to the OldSchoolCool subreddit and proves that Colbert has always been a looker.

If you think he’s attractive current day, then wait until you see him with even more hair on his head and a full beard.

Folks online definitely took note of his luscious locks.

One Reddit user wrote, “That looks like some delicious, let-me-run-my-fingers-through-it hair.”

Another wrote, “Why is Stephen Colbert perfect? Smart, funny, handsome, and dog owner too?!”

Apparently, Colbert meets all of the requirements of being a perfect human being.

In 1984, Colbert was 20 years old and was a theater major at Northwestern University. According to Biography.com, Colbert took to acting as a way to express himself after the death of his father and two brothers, who died in a plane crash when he was just 10 years old.

The 1984 version of Colbert captured in the photograph certainly had no way of knowing that he would go on to become a late-night talk show host and all-around famous guy (although, he may have had a feeling his good genes would follow him—as the internet agrees they have).

When he was announced as the new “The Late Show” host to replace David Letterman, he’s quoted saying, “Simply being a guest on David Letterman’s show has been a highlight of my career,” Colbert said. “I never dreamed that I would follow in his footsteps, though everyone in late night follows Dave’s lead. I’m thrilled and grateful that CBS chose me. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have to go grind a gap in my front teeth.”

The online community seems to be fine with 2017’s Colbert leading “The Late Show,” however, if they could swap him for the 1984 version—they might.
