Former NFL QB Tim Tebow is engaged

Former NFL quarterback and current professional baseball player Tim Tebow will soon be a married man! He asked his girlfriend, former Miss Universe Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters, to be his wife in a very special, intimate proposal — and she said “yes”!

Tebow told People magazine all about the moment he dropped to one knee — and all that went into keeping the proposal a surprise.

It all started with an elaborate story he had to tell Nel-Peters so she’d understand his excitement without getting suspicious. The story he went with? He told his girlfriend he was gifting his dad with a new truck, telling the magazine he even borrowed a truck from a dealership and put a huge bow on it to make it believable.

From there, he arranged to have Nel-Peters flown from South Africa, where she’s from, to his parents’ place in Florida, where the couple would be celebrating a belated Christmas and where the proposal would take place.

Once all of that was in order — it was time for him to actually pop the question. So, he and Nel-Peters took a romantic stroll along his parents’ property. Their walk stopped when they reached an area where a bench had been inscribed with the date the couple met.

Then, Tebow dropped to one knee and said, “Demi Leigh Nel-Peters, I love you,” he said, according to People. “Demi Leigh Nel-Peters, will you marry me?”

After she said “yes,” her family and Tebow’s family was on stand-by to celebrate!

The newly engaged couple then took to social media to announce the news.

Tebow captioned a series of photos on Instagram, “Thank you for saying YES and making me the happiest man in the world. You’re the love of my life, and I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with you.”

Nel-Peters shared the same images writing, “Any dreams I’ve ever had, you’ve exceeded them all! I love you and I can’t wait to spend forever with you!”

The 31-year-old athlete first confirmed his relationship with Nel-Peters, 23, to ESPN in July 2018:

“She is a really special girl and I am very lucky and blessed for her coming into my life. I am usually very private with these things, but I am very thankful,” he told Pedro Gomez in an interview.

It’s been a whirlwind relationship for these two, but now that they’re officially engaged, Nel-Peters and her beau are very much looking forward to the wedding and what the future holds.

“I’m so excited for the wedding, and I can’t wait to spend forever with Tim,” the bride-to-be told People.
