There’s now a tool that will get your husband off the toilet

For any wife who’s ever watched her husband disappear into the bathroom and wondered if she’d ever see him again, the issue of exceedingly long bathroom breaks is no joke. Luckily, two guy friends recently invented a practical solution.

It’s called, aptly, the “Toilet Timer,” and it’s an ingenious little device that gives a visual illustration of how long one’s been on the pot, and when it’s time to get off and move on.

Here’s how it works: The Toilet Timer is basically an updated version of an old-school hourglass. But in this case, the sand moves through an illustrated silhouette of a man into the toilet.

After five minutes, the sand has fully transferred, and bathroom time is over.

The Toilet Timer creators, two friends named Adam and Elliot, saw the need for a timer based on personal experience. They decided to raise money for the product via Kickstarter.

According to the fundraising page, the idea for the Toilet Timer “first plopped into Adam’s head when he tried to get off the toilet from an extended bathroom excursion and found that he couldn’t feel his legs. After pulling himself up by the sink and waiting to regain use of his appendages, he thought of something he could keep nearby for when nature called. And thus, the Toilet Timer was born.”

They also made a pretty compelling argument for the timer — get out of the bathroom so you can get stuff done and get on with your life.

“The phrase ‘poop or get off the pot’ is what someone says to you when they think it’s time you made a decision,” according to the Kickstarter page.” The implication is that you stop procrastinating and take action.”
