You can explore some of the most beautiful parts of the U.S. without a car. We’re lucky to have some of the most awe inspiring scenery in the world right in our backyard. My parents recently made the cross country road trip and drove across the country. Personally, that’s just too much time behind the wheel.
Luckily, Derek Low, who loves a good adventure, put together a breathtaking way to explore the country by train.
His travel route took him from San Francisco to New York by Amtrak and just 4 days.
Derek broke the trip into 4 segments:
- San Francisco to Salt Lake City
- Salt Lake City to Denver
- Denver to Chicago
- Chicago to New York
Amtrak sells a rail pass for $459, which allows you to travel up to 8 segments. So that will get you a round trip adventure across the country. You don’t need to do the exact trip and can create your own personalized trip hitting some of the key landmarks across the country.
The best part about traveling by train is that you can actually sit back and relax and take in some of the amazing views. I’ve never given much thought to a trip like this, but after looking at Derek’s pictures, I am strongly reconsidering.
Here are a few things you would see along this trip:
