We tried 7 popular recipes from Pinterest and here’s how they turned out

Whenever I’m looking for a new recipe to add to my weekly repertoire, I turn to Pinterest. There are so many great options for just about anything you’re looking to dish up. But what appeals to me most are all of those recipes that only require two or three ingredients. What could be easier?

To see if they were as easy and delicious as they promised to be, I tried seven of them. Here’s how it went:

1. Two-Ingredient Pineapple Soft Serve Recipe

The ingredients: All you need for this recipe are some fresh pineapple cubes and coconut milk. YOu can peek the details of the recipe right here.

The result: Awesome and so good! This recipe, using only coconut milk and pineapple, makes for the perfect sweet and refreshing treat, sans the calories and added sugar. Even better, it’s kid approved by a very picky eater!

2. Two-Ingredient Lemon Bars

The ingredients: Using only angel food cake mix, a can of lemon pie filling, a baking dish and your trusty oven, you can make this citrus dessert.

The result: They’re good! I like that they’re not too sweet, but you can still taste the lemon in them. While they weren’t the prettiest dessert I’ve ever made, these little lemon bars are the perfect treat for kids and adults alike.

Because I love powdered sugar, I sprinkled some on top. So technically, this could be considered a three-ingredient recipe.

3. One-Ingredient Cheese Snacks

The ingredient: In lieu of potato chips, you can make these little one-ingredient cheese snacks with just some cheese, parchment paper and the oven. Then, voila! You’ll have little cheese crisps that are perfect to serve as a side.

The result:  This recipe was good! For a little added flavor, I sprinkled the cheese piles prior to baking with a little Bell Pepper Herb Rub. They’re crispy and packed with flavor.

4. Two-Ingredient Chocolate Truffles

The ingredients: I bought a block of vegan chocolate and some coconut milk for this recipe, a small price to pay for a batch of little truffles.

The result: Yes, you really can make these delicious Chocolate Truffles using only two ingredients. However, it wasn’t quite as easy for me to make them into the little balls as I thought it would be. They kept falling apart and were super sticky. Maybe I didn’t let the mixture chill for long enough, or maybe it chilled for too long but, regardless, I followed the instructions. To keep the truffles from sticking together after they were made, I dusted them with Cocoa powder.

5. 20-Minute Baked Popcorn Chicken

The ingredients: This recipe requires only uncooked chicken, a bag of Doritos and mayo.

The result: Talk about an easy meal. This recipe for 20 Minute Baked Popcorn Chicken is not only simple to make, but so good! We liked how the chicken was moist, but the Doritos “breading” made the outside of the popcorn chicken crunchy. It was a nice combination!

6. Two-Ingredient Apple Pie Dumplings

The ingredients: This recipe only requires you to use one can of apple pie filling and a canister of crescent rolls.

The result: If you’re looking for a quick dessert or snack, this recipe might be one worth checking out. It’s so easy, makes quite a bit and is delicious. That’s a win in my book!

7. Banana Peanut Butter Ice Cream

The ingredients: Over the past year, I’ve been using frozen bananas that I toss in the blender with a little milk, peanut butter and protein powder for a post-workout snack. This recipe is similar, sans the milk and protein powder, so I thought it’d be worth testing it out.

Disclosure: My son is allergic to nuts, so we used sun butter instead. Honestly, I can’t really even taste the difference between regular peanut butter and sun butter. It’s good stuff!

The result: This recipe is good! Even better is that I know it’s a lot healthier than the average store-bought gallon of ice cream.
