This Video Of An Army Couple’s Emotional Surprise Reunion Is Going Viral
Husband and wife Jordan Pruitt and Jamie Douglas are both lieutenants in the United States Army. Douglas has spent the past eight months serving in Iraq, so they haven’t seen each other for the better part of a year.
But when Pruitt arrived at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, Texas, for training last week, he got an amazing surprise when his wife showed up in his classroom. Douglas surprised him by walking into the classroom in the middle of his medical training, and Pruitt was clearly shocked and overjoyed.
The whole touching interaction was captured on video. Here’s the clip, posted to Facebook by AEDD Center and School, Army Health Readiness Center of Excellence:
“2 LT Jordan Pruitt, Army Medical Specialist Corps officer currently attending the Doctorate of Physical Therapy program at #HRCoE had an unexpected surprise during his classroom training when his wife 2LT Jamie Douglas, a Medical Platoon Leader/ Squadron Medical Officer stationed at Fort Hood, Texas, returned from an 8 month deployment to Iraq in support of Operation Inherent Resolve,” reads the video’s caption. “We thank this dual-military couple and all Soldiers and Military Families for their service and sacrifice. #ThisWeWillDefend #TRADOC #ArmyMedicineStartsHere”
When Pruitt realizes his wife, whom he has not seen in eight months, is right there in the classroom, he rushes over to embrace her, even picking her up off the ground.
“What a way to end the class, huh?” someone remarks off-camera.
The video has since gone viral, having racked up more than 150,000 views. Many commenters thanked the couple for their service and sent them their best wishes for their time together.
What a beautiful reunion! We’re so glad that these two will be able to spend some quality time together after a long separation. Thank you to all of our military members for their service.
