This video of a boy using pens as instruments is amazing

If you’ve ever seen street musicians using buckets as drums, you know that awesome musical instruments can be made out of everyday items. One young boy decided apply that concept using two pens and a tray table, and the results will amaze you.

The boy seems to have some type of backing track, but still, the rhythmic beats he’s able to produce on his own using items you probably have in your own home are pretty impressive.

At one point, he even uses the pens in a brushing motion to produce a completely different kind of sound. Then, toward the end, he drops the pens altogether and uses only his hands to keep the beat going. His triumphant smile at the end shows that he’s definitely proud of his unique talent. Check out the video below:

Wow!  He’s not the only one who has mastered the art of using pens as instruments. Check out this duo who also incorporate a ruler to make music, posted by YouTuber Shane Bang. I’m not sure if this what they were going for, but the beginning totally sounds like “Sexy Back” by Justin Timberlake.

This kid takes it to the next level by drumming along with pens to the hit song “Don’t Let Me Down” by the Chainsmokers:

They make it look so easy, but somehow, I don’t think my air drumming skills would translate if I tried to actually use pens to produce a beat. But they sure are fun to watch!
