This Inspiring Video Of A Boy Without Arms Landing A Box Jump Will Bring Tears To Your Eyes
He's an inspiration!
There’s a 14-year-old out there who has proven that achieving something mind-over-matter style is possible, and it’s incredibly inspiring.
A video showing Chicago-area resident Timothy Bannon jumping onto a 20-inch box using all of his willpower has gone viral — and for good reason. Bannon has no arms to assist with momentum or balance, and he still manages to get up on that box.
Bannon was told by other kids he would never pull it off. He definitely proved them wrong.
The teenager told ABC7 in Chicago that he was thinking of those naysayers when he made the attempt to jump onto the box by himself at NubAbility camp for limb different youth in Du Quoin, Illinois. In the video, which Invictus athlete Brad Vinyard shared on YouTube, Bannon is seeing making multiple attempts before finally sticking it.
Bannon truly overcame his fears and self-doubt and proved that putting your heart into it is what matters!
The viral video has also cast light on NubAbility Athletics, an athletic foundation helping limb-different people get into mainstream sports. It’s a community of coaches, athletes and families that provides camps for the athletes to learn, be healthy and get involved, and its mission is to encourage and inspire youth.
NubAbility, which has been around since 2011, uses the hashtag #DontNeed2 on social media to get its messages and work out there.
NubAbility has Bannon’s video on its homepage and says he completed the feat at a Strength & Conditioning session while at summer camp. The organization’s Twitter account shows just how tough those training sessions can be — and how inspiring the participants are:
