It can get tricky figuring out how to maintain everything in your home, but we’ve come up with a special guide to help you figure out how often you really need to be cleaning that rug. If you want to do a good cleaning of your home, but aren’t exactly sure what to do daily versus monthly, consider this checklist of how often to clean different things in your house.


1. Make your bed

2. Wipe down kitchen and bathroom counters

3. Sweep the kitchen floors

4. Empty and load the dishwasher

5. Take out the trash

6. Squeegee the shower tiles

7. Clean the kitchen sink


1. Dust all surfaces

2. Vacuum and mop

3. Disinfect countertops, sinks, and toilets

4. Wipe down appliances

5. Change your bedding

6. Clean and scrub the shower

7. Get rid of expired food


1. Dust ceiling fans and vents

2. Clean light fixtures

3. Vacuum upholstery

Every 6 Months

1. Vacuum your mattress

2. Clean leather and wood furniture

4. Shake out rugs

5. Polish stainless steel appliances

6. Clean the inside of your refrigerator and freezer

1. Pull out large appliances and furniture, and clean behind them

2. Have upholstery and drapes professionally cleaned

3. Clean dryer duct

4. Wipe down all your walls

5. Flip your mattress

6. Clean and wash your shower liner

7. Clean outside windows
