Watch As Prince Harry Speaks Adorably About The New Royal Baby
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have officially kicked off their royal tour. The couple landed in Australia shortly after Kensington Palace released an official announcement of Markle’s pregnancy. Their tour will take them to Fiji, Tonga and New Zealand to promote youth-led initiatives, conservation efforts and more.
The visit to Australia got off to a great start as Markle and Prince Harry reportedly began to receive stuffed animals, books and more as generous gifts for their little bundle of joy. The trip is obviously special for many reasons — it’s the first time the Duke and Duchess have traveled to these countries together as husband and wife, it’s supporting great causes and, of course, it’s the first time the couple have been able to talk about their new baby publicly!
Prince Harry kicked things off by thanking Australia for the warm welcome they received and even joked with them about the gender of the baby, almost pretending as though he might announce whether it was a boy or a girl. But, it’s not quite time for that yet, it would seem! Tricky dad-to-be, isn’t he?!
A video posted by the “Good Morning America” Twitter account shows his playful address to the Aussies:
“Genuinely, thank you for the incredibly warm welcome and the chance to meet so many Aussies from all walks of life,” he said. “We also genuinely couldn’t think of a better place to announce the upcoming … baby, be it a boy or a girl.”
Prince Harry, the Duke of Sussex, says he and Duchess Meghan "genuinely couldn't think of a better place to announce the upcoming baby, be it a boy or a girl," on the first day of the couple's 16-day tour of Australia, Fiji, Tonga and New Zealand. https://t.co/m1CblP5KDT pic.twitter.com/4FhIgVmufn

According to the official announcement of the pregnancy, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are expecting the baby to arrive in the spring of 2019. There’s been no mention of the baby’s gender, except for Prince Harry’s playful teasing.
The Instagram post sharing the news also said that the couple was “delighted to be able to share this happy news with the public”:

The news was shared just five months after the couple wed on May 19. And according to Entertainment Tonight, Kensington Palace confirmed that Markle has passed the 12-week mark and is in “good health.”
The couple certainly was all smiles as they stepped out in Australia. Markle’s become known as a fashion icon since becoming part of the royal family — and her first outfit post-pregnancy announcement definitely didn’t disappoint.
She stepped out wearing a sleek white dress by Australian designer Karen Gee:
According to Australia’s ABC News, there were so many people logging on to Gee’s website to try and purchase the dress, it caused the designer’s website to temporarily shut down.
“Unfortunately, it went down, but not for long, it’s back up,” she told the Australian news outlet. “That’s a great thing, I’m incredibly blessed that more people are finding out about this wonderful brand.”
We can’t wait to keep up with the couple throughout their pregnancy journey! Congratulations on their baby … boy or girl!
