Disney just dropped the trailer for their first movie of 2021, ‘Raya and the Lost Dragon’
The trailer for Disney’s newest animated movie, “Raya and the Lost Dragon,” is out!
And in a year when delayed movies and TV shows is the norm, it’s great to see that the planned March 2021 release date for “Raya and the Lost Dragon” remains on schedule. At least, that’s what Disney said in their announcement via social media.
“Restore peace. Find the last dragon. Watch the new trailer for Raya and the Last Dragon, in theaters March 2021,” Disney shared in a Twitter post from the movie’s official account, @DisneyRaya.

Disney says the movie is slated to open March 21, 2021, pending movie theaters’ re-opening status.
After numerous postponements, “Mulan” went directly to Disney+ where viewers could pay $29.99 to watch the movie. And, this Christmas, Disney’s “Soul” will skip theaters and go directly to Disney+, where subscribers will be able to watch it for free.
“Raya and the Last Dragon” stars Kelly Marie Tran as the warrior Raya and Awkwafina as the last dragon, Sisu, who has taken on a human form and needs Raya’s help to return to her original, powerful form.
“Raya and the Last Dragon” is the first Disney film inspired by Southeast Asian culture (Raya’s family is from Vietnam), and Tran is the first Southeast Asian actress to portray a lead in a Disney film.
And we have to say, Raya looks like a fierce heroine!
“Long ago, in the fantasy world of Kumandra, humans and dragons lived together in harmony,” reads the official movie synopsis. “But when sinister monsters known as the Druun threatened the land, the dragons sacrificed themselves to save humanity. Now, 500 years later, those same monsters have returned and it’s up to a lone warrior, Raya, to track down the last dragon in order to finally stop the Druun for good. However, along her journey, she’ll learn that it’ll take more than dragon magic to save the world—it’s going to take trust as well.”
