The staff at Northside Hospital in Atlanta has proven what we already know to be true — nurses are amazing people.
Amanda Coley was in her hospital room when a group of nurses at the Georgia medical facility sang Backstreet Boys songs to her. This past Christmas, Coley had received tickets to see the popular band perform live, but she was forced to miss the concert due to her illness.
According to a Facebook post from her sister, Maggie Mayes Kingston, the nurses and Coley’s family surprised Coley with an in-house show, complete with tickets, T-shirts and snacks:
Those nurses were clearly having a blast singing “Everybody,” and it was obvious Coley was loving it. How fun!
WSB-TV in Atlanta reports that Coley is being treated for leukemia. Her family told the network that Coley — the mother of four children — is “strong,” and definitely a fighter.
Coley and her family have said they are extremely appreciative of the nurses at the cancer center, and who wouldn’t be? They seem amazing. Which is why Backstreet Boys band member Nick Carter tweeted out his appreciation to the nurses as well:
We missed you last night Amanda! Looks (and sounds) like you have a great team helping you get better. We’re thinking of you and sending you love ❤️
To the nurses of Northside Cancer Center, thank you for all you do!! https://t.co/WFZsE7tdRY— Nick Carter (@nickcarter) August 22, 2019
After sending Coley some love, Carter told the nurses, “thank you for all you do!!”
The band, which includes Carter, A.J. McLean, Kevin Richardson, Howie Dorough and Brian Littrell, are currently on their DNA World Tour. The tour is named for their album, “DNA,” which the group released back in January. The band will be touring in the U.S. and in Asia through the first week of November.
The Backstreet Boys formed in Orlando, Florida, in 1993. The band’s first hit was “We’ve Got it Goin’ On” in 1995. The guys took a short hiatus from 2002–2004 and had a Las Vegas residency that launched in 2017.
All of the BSB members are in their 40s now, with the exception of Carter, who is 39 years old. We’re so glad their popularity has persisted for the two decades since the band got together, and that their music continues to delight so many people around the world.
We’ll be thinking of Coley and the staff at Northside Hospital. The joy in that video is a reminder of how fantastic nurses are!
