Black Friday isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. I mean, if you happen to enjoy waking up at the crack of dawn and trying to shop amidst frenzied shoppers— then, be my guest.
But the Friday after Thanksgiving, I know exactly where I’ll be — at home, likely in my pajamas, still in a slight food coma from the day before and all of the leftovers.
If you happen to feel the same way, then join me in a day of relaxation knowing that you can still snag some deals once all of the hullabaloo is over. In fact, some deals get even better if you wait because patience is a virtue, my friend.
Here are seven reasons to avoid Black Friday.
1. Winter Clothing Is Cheaper Off-Season
All of your winter essentials are always cheaper once the spring/summer gear is starting to make its way into stores. So, if you don’t have to have that sweater just yet, wait until around February or March when it’s really going to be discounted.
2. Holiday Decorations Go On Sale After The Holidays
You’ll be able to snag some great deals on holiday décor once the holidays are over. So, if you’re looking to save money— make do with what you have for this year and rack up after Christmas so you can have all new decorations next year.
3. There’s Always Cyber Monday
If you’re not feeling Black Friday, but don’t want to wait too long to score some deals, then, go ahead and get your discounts virtually on Cyber Monday.
4. Returns & Exchanges Can Really Save You Some Money
When people are frantically shopping they may make rash decisions and decide to return things later. That’s where you come in.
5. Jewelry Is Not Going To Be Cheap This Time Of Year
If you really want to get a nice piece of jewelry, you have to be willing to pay for it, or, you have to wait until holiday season is over to make a purchase.
6. Smart Phone Deals Aren’t As Good As They Might Seem
According to Deal News, phone companies used to have great offers on Black Friday, but with major phone companies moving away from subsidized plans, the deals are likely not going to be great.
7. Gift Cards Give Frequent Discounts
Gift cards to places like iTunes and more have deals all throughout the month of December, so you don’t have to be a part of the Black Friday chaos to rack up the savings.
Don’t feel bad for skipping out on Black Friday because there’s still opportunities to not pay full-price. Or, if you are planning on being one of the crazed shoppers on the Friday after Thanksgiving, at least now you know what you can wait to buy later. It’s important to have a game plan to save the most you can this time of year. Happy savings this holiday season!
