Wendy’s is launching a breakfast menu nationwide

Fast-food chain Wendy’s is rolling out a breakfast menu nationwide, and if you’ve ever wanted a Frosty as part of your morning meal, you’ll finally get your chance. The breakfast menu, which is currently available in more than 300 Wendy’s restaurants, will hit locations across the United States in 2020.

“Launching breakfast in our U.S. restaurants nationwide provides incredible growth opportunities,” Todd Penegor, president and CEO of The Wendy’s Company, said in a press release. “We are well-positioned to pursue it. We believe we have the right team and structure in place, and we put Wendy’s fan favorites on our breakfast menu to us apart from the competition.”

The new breakfast offerings take some classic Wendy’s menu items and transform them into breakfast foods. There’s the honey butter chicken biscuit, which is a crispy chicken fillet topped with maple honey butter and served on a fluffy buttermilk biscuit.

There’s also the breakfast Baconator, which is a twist on the Baconator cheeseburger and includes grilled sausage, American cheese, Applewood smoked bacon, eggs and Swiss cheese sauce.

To get your Frosty fix in the morning, sip on a Frosty-ccino, which is cold-brewed coffee swirled with chocolate Frosty mix and served over ice.

Some of the menu items are already on the menu at Wendy’s locations that currently serve breakfast, and some will be brand-new.

Back in the 1980s, the chain experimented with a breakfast menu and offered omelets, French toast, and toasted sandwiches. The items took too long to prepare for “fast food,” apparently, and the breakfast menu was discontinued.

This time around, the company is investing $20 million in the launch of the nationwide breakfast menu, and it will hire 20,000 new crew members across the country to support the change. To apply for employment, visit careers.wendys.com or your local restaurant.
