Wendy’s new pub burger features beer cheese sauce and a pretzel bun
Finally, some good news: Wendy’s is introducing a new menu item that elevates the fast-food burger to another level. Inspired by hearty gastropub fare, Wendy’s Pretzel Bacon Pub Cheeseburger features a soft pretzel bun, fresh beef patty, Muenster cheese, bacon, fried onions, pickles, smoky honey mustard and warm beer cheese sauce. You can order it as a single, double or even triple burger.
This isn’t the first time that Wendy’s has tempted us with a pretzel bun. In 2013, Wendy’s was one of the first fast-food chains to make pretzel buns a trend, but the buns only enjoyed a brief time on the menu. After a six-month rollout, the pretzel bun went into retirement.
Fans caused an uproar, asking for the pretzel bun to return to the menu, so Wendy’s brought back the much-beloved bun … and then retired it once again.
Wendy’s Twitter account is famous for its sassiness, and its response to fans’ demands for the pretzel bun cheeseburger was predictably coy. In a tweet from last year, the brand teased that the product would come back “maybe one day, you never know.”

Now, the day has finally arrived! The pretzel bun burger is back and better than ever, revamped with crispy onion strings and warm beer cheese, proving that good things really do come to those who wait.
The new “Made to Crave” menu addition is available for $5.69. If you order Wendy’s from Postmates between Friday, Sept. 4 and Monday, Sept. 7, you can get a free Pretzel Bacon Pub Cheeseburger with a $15 purchase. Just use the code PRETZEL when you check out.
If you prefer white meat, you can also swap the beef in the Pretzel Bacon Pub Cheeseburger for a chicken filet for $6.19. Get it grilled, fried or with the iconic Wendy’s Spicy Chicken breast.
Make sure you try it while you can, as we know from experience that these pretzel buns don’t last long on the menu!
