Here’s The Sassy Way Wendy’s Shut Down A Twitter Troll
Wendy’s is serving up a side of sass alongside those burgers and Frosty treats. The fast food restaurant (or, rather, the marketing genius captaining their Twitter account) got into a Twitter feud with a user who questioned whether their beef is really “fresh, never frozen.”
Like the toy at the bottom of a child’s fast-food bag, though, there’s a happy ending in here somewhere.
Here’s how it all started: Wendy’s tweeted a photo of one of its hamburgers. Innocent, yes? Accompanying the photo was a line that read: “Our beef is way too cool to ever be frozen,” complete with an emoji in sunglasses.
Cue the beef. (Sorry, no getting around that pun).
Twitter user Thuggy-D @NHride took a jab: “Your beef is frozen and we all know it. Y’all know we laugh at your slogan ‘fresh, never frozen’ right? Like you’re really a joke.”
Oof.
Wendy’s wasn’t going to let that slide, though, and denied the claim saying the restaurant has used fresh beef since it opened in 1969. When Thuggy-D asked whether Wendy’s delivers beef raw on a hot truck and interjected a praise for McDonald’s breakfast, Wendy’s snapped back with this tweet: “You don’t have to bring them into this just because you forgot refrigerators existed for a second.” Mic drop. Or, drive-thru headset drop, rather.

Then, poof, Thuggy-D reportedly made a brief exit from the Twittersphere, disabling his account.
But his Twitter exit was a brief one because now it appears Wendy’s and Thuggy-D have made-up. The restaurant re-tweeted this photo from Thuggy-D with a humble hashtag that sums it all up: #respect.

The Twitter feud, though, was certainly entertaining to those following along on Twitter.

Reports say #Wendys has been pretty #Frosty in the #Wendysroast here on #Twitter. Wonder if they'll confirm or deny. Fiesty & 🍟, amiright?

As for Wendy’s … the restaurant chain is still playing along with some snappy tweets.

It’s fair to say: This is what a food fight looks like in 2017.
