Egg-free recipe for chocolate chip cookie dough bites means you can indulge safely

The only thing better than a chocolate chip cookie fresh out of the oven is a ball of chocolate chip cookie dough before it goes in the oven.

You’ve heard all about how it’s not exactly safe or healthy to eat cookie dough. The raw flour in unbaked cookie dough can lead to illness such as E. coli, while raw eggs can lead to salmonella.

Still, the lure of cookie dough can be pretty darn tough to resist. Thankfully, you can now indulge your craving for cookie dough without worry thanks to this recipe for egg-free, edible cookie dough bites from Cooking Classy.

The recipe does incorporate baked flour. The flour helps to heat the dough past 160 degrees, which is high enough to kill E. coli.

It also calls for a few other simple ingredients, such as sugar, butter and chocolate chips.

The egg, meanwhile, is replaced by half and half, so you won’t lose any of the texture it provides in traditional chocolate chip cookie dough.

The blog’s author, Jaclyn, notes that she likes to use two kinds of chocolate chips, but that you can go with any type you like. The whole recipe takes just 25 minutes to put together.

If you can resist scooping the dough straight from the bowl and eating it, the recipe will yield about two dozen bites.
