Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith have been married for more than 20 years, and it’s clear that their bond is totally inspiring. The couple share two children together, 23-year-old son Jaden and 21-year-old daughter Willow, and Pinkett Smith is also stepmom to her husband’s son from a previous marriage, 29-year-old Trey.
The family has been through a lot of ups and downs together over the years. Pinkett Smith once said that she and her husband would never get divorced, calling him family and saying, “That’s a man that can rely on me for the rest of his life, period.”
Will Smith took it one step further and said that their relationship is so strong that “married’ doesn’t even adequately describe it.
In an interview on Tidal’s “Rap Radar” podcast, the multi-talented entertainer explained that he and Pinkett Smith rarely refer to themselves as husband and wife these days, choosing instead to describe who they are to each other as “life partners.”
“We don’t even say we’re married anymore,” Smith said. “We refer to ourselves as ‘life partners,’ where you get into that space where you realize you are literally with somebody for the rest of your life. There’s no deal breakers. There’s nothing she could do — ever — nothing that would break our relationship. She has my support till death, and it feels so good to get to that space.”
Wow! Despite the fact that divorce rumors have plagued them throughout their relationship, both partners have repeatedly insisted that they’re in it for the long haul.

In 2016, Pinkett Smith said meeting her husband changed how she viewed relationships and family.
“I never thought about being married or having a family,” the actress said during her remarks at VH1’s Dear Mama event. “I didn’t know anything about that because I came from a single mom so I always thought I’d be a single mom and have a career. Then I found this beautiful man, Will. I got married to him and I got my bonus son Trey and then I got Jaden and I got Willow and I was able to create, for myself, something I never had — which means family.”
Here’s to many more years of life partnership!
