Williams Sonoma asked celebs to design spatulas for charity
When it comes to spatulas, you’ve probably never considered having a celebrity-designed version. It is just a spatula, after all.
But now, thanks to Williams Sonoma, you can own a spatula designed by the likes of Kristen Bell, Faith Hill, Bobby Flay, Neil Patrick Harris, Questlove, Jeff Bridges and Alton Brown.
Kitchenware and home furnishings retailer Williams Sonoma has formed a partnership with nonprofit Share Our Strength’s No Kid Hungry campaign, which helps fight childhood hunger, to create a line of spatulas designed by celebrities.
The spatulas cost $12.95 each, and 30 percent of all proceeds will benefit the campaign. Williams Sonoma has also pledged to donate an additional $5,000 on behalf of the designer of the spatula that sells out first.
Each of the celebrities put their own personal spin on their illustrations. For example, Kristen Bell’s spatula features a sloth, her favorite animal. Jeff Bridges’ depicts bowling, a nod to his character in “The Big Lebowski.”
You can get the spatulas at Williams Sonoma beginning on August 14. They will be available until they sell out.
Last year, a whole different crop of celebrities pitched in for the good cause, and their designs are no less creative. Jimmy Kimmel decided to adorn his spatula with his own face. Chrissy Teigen filled hers with a bacon and egg print, citing breakfast as the most important meal of the day. Trisha Yearwood went with a simple “xoxo” message and her signature.
Here’s a snap of last year’s designs from the company’s Instagram.

According to No Kid Hungry, 48.8 million Americans, including 13 million children, live in households that are unable to get enough nutritious food on a regular basis.
The participating stars were glad to lend their services for a good cause.
Food Network star Ayesha Curry, whose design was featured in 2016, explained her motivation to give back: “Balanced eating is so important to my family. I started working with No Kid Hungry because making sure that families and children have access to nutritious and affordable food is a cause I care deeply about.”
Sounds like a good reason to buy a new spatula.
