If spending the night in a tent in the middle of a California desert doesn’t sound like your cup of tea, then you definitely wouldn’t want to go to the Coachella music festival the normal way. But thanks to these glamping options, you wouldn’t necessarily have to.
Marriott has designed eight glam tents for this year’s festival (which runs over two weekends, from April 14-16 and April 21-23) that include air conditioning, a shower, a queen bed, golf cart shuttles to and from events and more. Talk about a major upgrade!
But, as you might have imagined, this experience isn’t for just anyone. Oh no. This glamping experience is hard to come by. OK, so here’s how it all works:
You have to bid your hotel rewards points to win a stay in one of these tents. According to the L.A. Times, four tents are for Starwood members, with the bids starting at 7,500 points. Bidding closes on April 6.
Three tents will be open to Marriott Reward members, with bids starting at 22,500 points. Again, you’ve got until April 6 to place your bid.
And last but not least, there’s one very special tent that’s open to a sweepstakes winner. All Marriott Rewards members who sign up at Marriott’s Experience Marketplace by March 31 will be eligible for this part of the contest.
Winners get:
- One furnished Shikar style tent (Check-in: Thursday, April 20; Check-out: Monday, April 24) – 1 Queen bed available
- Two (2) Safari Guest Passes for festival access Friday, April 21 2017-Sunday, April 23 2017 for 2 people
- $9,500 value
- Flights are not included
Of course, if you’re not lucky enough to score one of these amazingly luxe tents, the festival has plenty of other lodging options. There are other hotels rooms, off-site camping and on-site camping choices.
If you go with one of the festival’s “premium camping” options, it’ll cost you a minimum of $2,398, however, so if you’ve got some Marriott points to bid, I’d suggest doing that and/or entering the sweepstakes for one of the luxury tents before shelling out two grand for a tent.
