This woman received a childhood toy as a gift from her husband

Getting a gift from the heart always means more than simply getting the shiny new gadget that everyone’s talking about. Even better is when a gift has some history.

Recently, my dad found an Emerald City play set from “The Wizard of Oz” lurking in his basement. My sister and I loved playing with the toy as kids, and now that my 2-year-old niece was also into Dorothy and all things Oz, my dad decided to restore the dusty old toy to its former glory and give it to his granddaughter as an extra-special Christmas gift. The joy I saw on my niece’s face when she opened it was doubled as I remembered how much fun I’d had with the toy when I was growing up.

One husband certainly recognized the power of nostalgia when giving his wife a Christmas gift this year. When she opened up a present to find a Cabbage Patch doll inside, the woman was moved to tears. Check out the moving video below:

The wife reveals that when she and her family emigrated from Colombia to the United States when she was a child, she had to leave the doll behind because her parents said she couldn’t bring anything with her. Her husband says that he’d been looking for a replacement of the special doll for years.

“Oh my God, it’s Tina!” she exclaims.

What a sweet reunion! We’re so glad this thoughtful husband found a way to give his wife this truly meaningful gift.
