You can now buy pumpkin pie dessert hummus

Boar's Head

Just when we thought the food world had reached peak-pumpkin with the release of pumpkin spice-flavored Spam, Boar’s Head has decided to get in on the pumpkin-flavored product craze with their own offering: a pumpkin pie dessert hummus!

Now available in stores, the limited-edition hummus combines sugar and chickpeas along with real pumpkin, ground vanilla beans, cinnamon and nutmeg. It all makes for a sweet fall-themed dip you’ll want to spread on top of pancakes, waffles, graham crackers, pretzels or fruit — or simply eat right out of the container with a spoon, preferably with a mug of apple cider to wash it down.

Boar’s Head, which also makes a dark chocolate dessert hummus and a chocolate raspberry dessert hummus, is marketing their pumpkin hummus as a “no-guilt treat,” as it boasts only 60 calories per 2-tablespoon serving. It’s also gluten-free, kosher and non-GMO verified.

Wondering what pumpkin pie dessert hummus tastes like exactly? It basically has all of the flavors of a freshly baked pumpkin pie — without requiring you to put in any of the time and work. Though, as Boar’s Head helpfully notes, you could use their pumpkin hummus to make an easy, no-bake pumpkin pie by simply pouring it into a pre-baked pie shell and topping it with whipped cream.

(Their website also provides recipes for pumpkin pie hummus cookie tarts and pumpkin hummus cheesecake bites if you feel like using the hummus to whip up another type of pumpkin pie-flavored dessert.)

Boar’s Head isn’t the only food company to offer a pumpkin pie dessert hummus this fall. Delighted By also offers their own vegan pumpkin pie-flavored dessert hummus, which can be found at Target stores and other retailers. You can also find plenty of recipes online for making your own pumpkin hummus from scratch.
