You can now buy tattoo sleeves for your cat

If you’ve ever thought to yourself, “You know, my cat just isn’t cool enough,” then fear not — we have just the product for you. There are now tattoo sleeves for your cat.

Yes, you read that right. If you want your cat to look tatted up, then look no further than the Etsy shop SimplySphynx, where you can buy custom-made clothing for your cat made to look like tattoos.

This (ingenious? superfluous?) design comes from California-based artist Airie McCready, who owns Slinx Concepts, a clothing company for cats and dogs. The tattoo sleeves came when a friend of McCready’s showed her a fake, cloth tattoo sleeve he had purchased and poked fun at her tattoos, which had cost a lot of time and money.

If you’re worried about kitty safety, don’t be — all of the designs are nontoxic and the material is safe for cats to wear. McCready’s own cats (three sphinxes and three Devon Rexes) have modeled the designs extensively.

“Everything in my shop is made by myself or a contracted seamstress and I oversee each item,” McCready told MetroUK in an interview. “Two years ago at the Westminster Kennel Club, they had a ‘meet the cats’ event and even had the cats do an agility course. Misha, a Sphynx, wearing one of my Tattcat shirts won!”

You can buy the tattoo jumpers on McCready’s Etsy store starting at around $20. The sleeves come in a variety of colors to match your cat’s markings. These will probably work best with cats that are one color (such as all black, all white, all grey or sphinx).
