You can order brunch in a box this Mother’s Day

HelloFresh

If the thought of making reservations or waiting (and waiting, and waiting) to get a table for brunch on Mother’s Day already has you stressed, odds are you’re planning on just staying home and making your own meal in honor of your mom. If you’re not skilled in the kitchen, however, this too may seem intimidating.

Thankfully, meal-kit provider HelloFresh is here to help — with its first-ever brunch box. Simply put, HelloFresh has done all the planning, shopping and recipe-finding for you. So all you have to do is actually make the meal. But don’t worry! Although it looks quite fancy, step-by-step instructions make it all pretty easy.

Now available for pre-order with delivery beginning May 1, the brunch box is available in a 4-person or 8-person size with ingredients to make the following dishes: spring asparagus strata (with bacon, tomato, and Gruyère), tropical citrus salad, cinnamon rolls and a mom-mosa cocktail. Starting at $72, the kit also comes with a DIY Mother’s Day card. You know, just in case you forgot that part.

One great perk is that you can order a box and have it shipped to a different address. That means you can send brunch to your mom even if you live too far away to treat her in person. Of course, she’ll have to make the meal herself, but she’ll have all the ingredients and recipes without needing to leave her house.

I was able to sample a box early and I will be honest. Not only would I not have been able to create such a lovely brunch without the kit, but I wouldn’t have even tried. If you’re not a great cook, like me, there’s something daunting about looking at all the requirements for a recipe. When everything you need shows up at your front door in exactly the right amounts, however, it’s far easier to find the motivation to whip up something tasty.

While literally every part of the kit was delicious, the spring asparagus strata was honestly the best breakfast I’ve had in a long time. As a vegetarian, I did change it a bit by leaving out the bacon (which my husband happily ate separately as a side). But, if you’re a bacon lover, I have no doubt the addition of it would have made the strata even better. And yes, it turns out just as beautifully as HelloFresh shows in its promotional picture. If you and your mom aren’t brunch fans, you can purchase a dinner box instead that includes an appetizer, entree and dessert for either two or four people. The price starts at $64.

Or, try making a brunch-friendly layered casserole of your own. This strata recipe from The Chunky Chef includes sausage as well as bacon, along with cheddar and Gruyère cheeses. You can customize it, too!

This is such an easy way to make her holiday special. Will you be ordering a HelloFresh brunch box for yourself or the mother figures in your life this Mother’s Day?
