A Recall Has Been Announced On Yummy Yummy Dino Buddies Chicken Breast Nuggets
Were the chicken nuggets in your freezer affected by this recall?
If your kids are chicken nugget fans, you’ll want to check the products in your freezer before you serve up any more of them.
Maxi Canada’s Yummy Yummy Dino Buddies Chicken Breast Nuggets were voluntarily recalled on June 17 by parent company Maxi Canada, after they realized that the product might contain undeclared milk ingredients. The affected nuggets were sold at grocery stores across the United States and Canada, including Target, Walmart and Harris Teeter.
Wondering whether you should be worried? Make sure to check whether your chicken nuggets were actually included in the recall before you get too concerned. Only Yummy Dino Buddies packages with the UPC code 6456322607 were included in the recall—other packages should be dairy-free and safe to consume, even for those with dairy allergies or sensitivities. Any families with affected packages can return their chicken nuggets to the stores where they bought them for a full refund.
If your family doesn’t follow a dairy-free diet, however, and no one in the house has milk allergies, there’s no real reason to worry about eating Yummy Dino Buddies nuggets. “For those who don’t have milk allergies, the nuggets are 100 percent safe,” the company told Red Tricycle in a statement.
The Yummy Dino Buddies chicken nugget recall came just a week after an unnamed supplier’s use of unlisted milk in bread crumbs triggered a startling recall of at least 3.7 million pounds of food products. The recall affected several food producers who used the bread crumbs in meat, chicken and pasta products without listing milk ingredients. For those with dairy allergies, the health effects could be serious, and a number of the products were distributed to schools before the recall occurred.
