BEAMSBROADCAST/YouTube

Transparent bags have been trendy lately — but never have they been this practical. The Ziploc bags you use in your kitchen every day are now a high-end fashion accessory thanks to a collaboration between Ziploc and Japanese fashion label BEAMS.

The line includes everything from transparent backpacks to umbrellas, all equipped with iconic Ziploc plastic bag elements such as the Ziploc logo and pink and blue snap closures.

This video from the BEAMS YouTube channel will give you a sense of what the collection has to offer:

The collection is available to shop on the BEAMS website and items range in price from 1,296-14,040 Yen (about $12-$126 USD). Shopping from the U.S. may prove a little difficult through the Japanese retailer, but — it doesn’t have to stop you from shopping similarly quirky-yet-practical items.

You can find transparent totes from designer brands such as Opening Ceremony for $45:

Retailers such as Urban Outfitters also have similar options. This clear tote is available for $25.

You can also use an iron to transform plastic bags into way more practical items. This DIY with Hometalk tutorial will show you how to turn plastic bags into a “fabric” that can be used to make tote bags and more:
