What started out as a way to save money on re-carpeting the stairs turned into a Pinterest tutorial turned into a real-life masterpiece.

Now, we’ve all seen those sad/hilarious Pinterest fails, but this finished version is practically the poster child for Pinterest and proof that indeed, you can follow these steps and create something wonderful.

Hello Giggles shared the story of a woman who turned her staircase into a giant bookshelf of sorts. Rather than shell out to carpet the stairs in her home, she decided to paint them to look like her family’s favorite novels, and the result is nothing short of magical.

Forget “Reading Rainbow,” I’m all about this reading staircase of dreams. This is definitely way cooler than boring old carpet would have been. So, if you’re feeling crafty… let’s see what you’ve got.
