Celebrity couples who keep their relationship out of the spotlight

Although some celebrities seem to be more famous for their love lives than their work, other celebrities manage to keep their private lives so private it’s easy to forget about their relationships entirely.

From Kerry Washington to Lady Gaga, here are all the celebrities who keep their relationships out of the spotlight.

Christian Bale And Sibi Blazic

Did you know Christian Bale has been married for nearly 20 years?

“[My wife] likes to be very private. And of course, I want to maintain that … but we have a great private life,” Bale told Us Magazine of his wife, Sibi Blazic, in 2017. The couple, who met through Winona Ryder, has been married since 2000. They have two children together.

Marcus Mumford And Carey Mulligan

Despite attending the 2018 royal wedding of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry together, Mumford and Sons singer Marcus Mumford and actress Carey Mulligan are otherwise known for keeping their long-time relationship out of the public eye.

“Marcus is the only thing that’s mine that I can keep totally away, so I try to,” Mulligan once told Vogue. The couple has been married since 2012, and they have two children together.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt And Tasha McCauley

Although she’s married to, and has two kids with, actor Joseph Gordon-Levitt, businesswoman Tasha McCauley hasn’t pursued the spotlight, and that’s intentional. Back when the couple was just dating, Gordon-Levitt told Howard Stern,

“The girl that I’m with, she really doesn’t want to be a part of it … You can imagine not wanting to have that kind of scrutiny.”

Alexis Bledel And Vincent Kartheiser

TV stars Alexis Bledel and Vincent Kartheiser reportedly met on the set of “Mad Men,” a show in which their characters had a romantic relationship, and started a real-life relationship shortly after that. The couple married in 2014 and have a child together but don’t talk very often about their relationship.

Explaining why, Kartheiser told Vulture: “It’s something I realized about the most important things in my life … If I share them with the world and I open that door to their fuming anger that they need to get out or their adoration that they want to flaunt, it lessens it. It cheapens it; it weakens it. And it’s magical, love, and all of that is … profoundly spiritual, and it just doesn’t feel right.”

Katie Holmes And Jamie Foxx

When it comes to secretive relationships, Katie Holmes and Jamie Foxx might be the most private of any A-list Hollywood couple out there. They’ve been seen together since 2013, but they’re so secretive that they’ve never officially confirmed their relationship. However, since Katie Holmes’ representative recently denied breakup rumors, and there have been photos of them holding hands and attending events together, all signs seem to point to the fact that they are indeed a couple!

Taraji P. Henson And Kelvin Hayden

She may have a high-profile acting career, but up until recently, Taraji P. Henson was tight-lipped about her personal life. She finally confirmed her relationship with fiancé and former NFL player Kelvin Hayden in 2017 on Essence’s Yes, Girl! podcast.

“You know, I’m not the type to blast my personal business, but you know, I think that it’s important for people to know that I’m happy,” Henson said. “I’m very very happy. I just am. We’ve been together for two years. And no one would really know that because I don’t blast my info like that but I’m very happy.”

Karlie Kloss And Josh Kushner

Most people know of Jared Kushner, President Trump’s son-in-law and White House advisor. However, what many don’t know is that Kushner’s younger brother, Josh (whose political views seem to stand in opposition to his brother’s), is in a relationship with model Karlie Kloss. The couple reportedly became engaged in the summer of 2018 after six years of relatively quiet dating.

“I’ve chosen to be with the man I love despite the complications,” Kloss said to Vogue. “It’s frustrating, to be honest, that the spotlight is always shifted away from my career toward my relationship. I don’t think the same happens in conversations with men.”

“I realize that I don’t think I like actors,” she told Nylon. “Actors are really emotionally complicated. I just really need to get out of this industry with someone who is in a stable environment.” So much for that!

Sarah Paulson And Holland Taylor

Striking the right balance between keeping their romantic life private and sharing it with the public has been a challenge for actresses Sarah Paulson and Holland Taylor, who have reportedly been together since 2015.

Of her relationship with Taylor, who is 32-years her senior, Paulson told Cosmopolitan: “On one hand, when you’re in a relationship that makes you happy, you would be telling anyone who wanted to know about it. On the other, there’s a sort of … meal of it for people … That’s not my favorite thing. But I don’t want to spend my life jumping from shadow to shadow.”

Kerry Washington And Nnamdi Asomugha

It wasn’t until months after their small and secret wedding in 2013 that they confirmed the news.
