This Sweet Dad Booked 6 Flights to Spend Christmas With His Flight Attendant Daughter

The holiday season is about spending time with family, and one dad was determined to make that happen — even if it involved booking multiple flights. Hal Vaughan’s daughter, Pierce Vaughan, is a flight attendant who was scheduled to work on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. But Hal wanted to spend the holiday with his daughter, so he decided he wouldn’t let her busy schedule keep them apart.

Hal booked six flights that Pierce was scheduled to work on so they could spend Christmas together in the air. His seatmate during one of his flights was the first to share the story on social media.

While flying from Fort Myers, Florida, to Detroit, Mike Levy sat next to Hal, who told him all about the lengths he went to for some extra time with his daughter. Levy posted about their chance meeting on Facebook:

“I had the pleasure of sitting next to Hal on my flight back home. His daughter Pierce was our flight attendant who had to work over Christmas,” Levy wrote. “Hal decided he would spend the holiday with her. So, he is flying on each of her flights today and tomorrow around the country to spend time with his daughter for Christmas. What a fantastic father! Wish you both a very Merry Christmas!”

Levy told USA Today that the father said he had booked a total of six flights to keep up with his daughter’s busy schedule and spend Christmas together.

Pierce took to Facebook to thank Levy for pointing out just how “cool” it was that her dad got to spend the holiday with her in this way.

“Shoutout to Mike Levy for being a great first class passenger & helping us to understand how cool this actually is,” she wrote on Facebook, alongside the images Levy had taken of herself and her father:

She also pointed out that her dad got to fly first class on one of the flights — the one to Detroit, with Levy:

“Dad’s first trip using his benefits was a success! A special thanks to all of the patient, wonderful gate agents around the country and my perfect crew. He made it on every flight and even got first class RSW-DTW (Christmas miracle),” she wrote.

This isn’t the first time someone has gone great lengths (and taken multiple flights) to be with their loved ones. Army Sergeant Francois Clerfe once took a total of 10 flights to make it home to see his daughter’s birth and made it just in time to welcome baby Julia on New Year’s Day nearly one year ago, as you can see via the hospital’s Facebook post:
