Parents everywhere are scurrying to finish holiday shopping and wrap up wish lists. Truly, all parents are in holiday shopping mode. Even some wild animals. Earlier this month, a female deer stopped by the general store outside of Fort Collins, Colorado, presumably to do her own holiday shopping.
Lori Jones works at the Horsetooth Inn and RV Park, which is nestled in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains near Horsetooth Reservoir. As a result of the remote location, wildlife sightings are common here.

One recent sighting stood out. Jones was on duty a few weeks ago when a mama deer walked in to peruse the general store. Naturally, Jones jumped into action and snapped these hilarious shots.
Oh deer! CO store owner welcomes an unusual customer. She even brought a few "bucks" too! @News3LV pic.twitter.com/LhZXdz55cf

First, the deer checked out the sunglasses display.

Next, she contemplated the selection of junk food. The shelf lies conveniently at nose level for the deer. Now that’s tempting.
Sensing the deer was craving a snack, Jones coaxed her wild visitor out of the store.
“I lured her outside with a peanut bar,” she shared with 9NEWS.
Though, the deer didn’t stay away long. In fact, she returned later that day with her fawns.
“Later, I was in the office checking the store stock,” Jones shared with 9NEWS. “I walked out and there she was with her twins and a lone buck that she nursed. I just used my phone to snap the pics.”
Considering the scene she captured, it’s no surprise Jones couldn’t stop laughing.
The brave mama deer trotted right back in the store. While the babies lingered in the doorway. One sniffed the chips on the shelf; like mother, like daughter.

Thanks to Jones for quick snapping, we can all laugh along. Wild animals, they’re just like us. For more adorable wild animals that are making our week, take a look at the cottontail rabbit and baby pygmy hippo.
