The Cast For Disney’s Live-Action ‘The Lion King’ Is Totally Amazing

News of a live-action “The Lion King” film came about a year ago, and since then we’ve been dying to find out more details. There have been some exciting rumors about who would star in the film, but yesterday Disney announced the official cast list—and it’ll knock your socks off.

Beyoncé, James Earl Jones, Seth Rogen, John Oliver and many other amazing actors joined the remake of this epic Disney tale! Take a look at the full lineup, via Disney’s Twitter account:

The cast includes:

  • Donald Glover as Simba
  • Beyoncé as Nala
  • James Earl Jones as Mufasa (reprising his role from the 1994 animated film)
  • Chiwetel Ejiofor as Scar
  • Alfre Woodard as Sarabi
  • John Oliver as Zazu
  • Seth Rogen as Pumbaa
  • Billy Eichner as Timon

This is an exciting announcement, to say the least! Even though the live-action “Lion King” won’t come out until 2019, fans are already more than prepared to see the story unfold before their eyes:

While the film itself will surely be amazing, there’s one cast member, in particular, that folks online are getting hyped to see. I’ll give you one guess.

Yep, it’s Beyoncé. The singer/actress confirmed the news via her Facebook account and needless to say, fans are freaking out.

Director Jon Favreau tweeted about his involvement, and considering he directed the live-action version of “The Jungle Book,” we have a feeling “The Lion King” won’t disappoint:

“It is a director’s dream to assemble a talented team like this to bring this classic story to life,” said Favreau in a statement. We can only imagine!

According toThe Hollywood Reporter, the live-action “Lion King” will hit theaters on July 19, 2019. So, mark your calendars and start counting down the days! Is it just us or are you ready to skip to the year 2019 already?
