Here’s How You Can Make Homemade Dinner Rolls In A Crockpot
Yum! This is easy AND tasty.
A slow cooker is great for making so many dishes — from soups to stews to casseroles and more. While you probably have a few go-to slow cooker recipes that fit into one of these categories in your repertoire, you can also prepare some more surprising foods in a crockpot.
For example, did you know that you can make dinner rolls in a slow cooker? When you’re preparing a big meal with many dishes, such as on Thanksgiving, dinner rolls may be an afterthought. However, if you ask me, the feast is just not complete without them. Making them in the slow cooker is a great way to set it and forget it, ensuring you have this unsung but essential hero at the dinner table ready and waiting when it’s time to eat.
Check out this super-simple recipe for slow cooker dinner rolls from Living Sweet Moments, which comes together with a number of staple items that you likely already have in your pantry, such as flour, sugar and salt. These rolls do not require any proofing time, which is often required when making your own rolls from scratch and baking them in the oven. Once you make the dough, all you have to do is cut it into rolls, and pop them in the slow cooker.
Living Sweet shared the process on their YouTube channel:
As soon as the rolls are ready, Living Sweet Moments recommends topping them with some melted butter and broiling for a couple of minutes for a perfectly golden and crispy top. Genius!
If you’re serving the rolls on Thanksgiving, making them plain without any added herbs or spices is the perfect complement to an already rich meal with plenty of flavors. We’re thinking some of the folks behind the record-setting 1,000-pound green bean casserole might appreciate the simplicity of a warm, fresh dinner roll right about now!
These rolls make perfect vehicles for sopping up extra gravy as well. However, feel free to jazz them up when served with more simple meals, with the addition of garlic or rosemary, for example.
