John Krasinski Flew 6,000 Miles Every Weekend While Filming To See His Kids

John Krasinski didn’t let a little thing like filming 6,000 miles away from his family keep him from seeing them. The actor admitted that throughout the filming of Amazon’s “Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan,” he spent his weekends with his wife and two daughters — even though it meant flying from Montreal to London and back again.

“Family for me, it’s a non-negotiable thing,” Krasinski told People. “So if I’m honest, I was shooting 6,000 miles away from them, and I flew back every single weekend.”

Emily Blunt and the kids are set up in London while Blunt is on set for “Mary Poppins Returns” because the parents feel it’s important to “set up a base” for their 2- and 4-year-old daughters.

“They were [in London with their mom], and we always set up a base, and I always want the base to be with their mom, and I’ll do the flight time,” he told People.

While spending that much time on a plane isn’t necessarily enjoyable, you won’t find Krasinski complaining about the commute.

“I think that there’s nothing you can complain about in this business, you know what I mean?” he said to People. “If there’s one thing that’s a bummer, it’s that you spend time away from your kids. But guess what, a lot of people spend time away from their kids. So for me, I think we’re all living in a fantasy camp.”

And it’s no secret that their daughters love spending time with their dad! Blunt has even said that she can tell Krasinski’s the more well-liked of the two.

“They may like John even more than me, which is slightly upsetting at times,” the mom told “Entertainment Tonight.” “When I ask the little one, ‘Who’s your best friend?’ She’s like, ‘Daddy.'”

But Blunt does still hold the role of “top dog” in the family. “I’m still kind of top dog, but I’m just going to have to keep him working so he’s not there,” she joked.

And yet, even 6,000 miles can’t keep Krasinski away from his girls! At the end of the day, their children’s safety and happiness is all these parents truly care about.

“My children’s happiness, their safety and their well-being is the most paramount thing in my life,” Blunt told People. “My greatest hope is that they are truly happy, and that they’re interested in life, in anything … interested and interesting, and truly happy.”

With two dedicated parents like these, we have a feeling these girls feel very loved and happy!
