Mark Hamill is clearly a romantic. You don’t get to 40 years of marriage without being completely in love with your partner, and he took to Instagram to share just how much he loves his wife on Dec. 17, in honor of their 40th anniversary.

He shared images of himself, his wife, Marilou Hamill, and their three children throughout the years alongside a beautiful Maya Angelou quote.

“In all the world, there is no heart for me like yours / In all the world, there is no love for you like mine,” the caption read.

He completed the message with “40 years and counting …” along with “#NoMeWithoutYou.”

How sweet!

Mark and Marilou first met at a dentist office, where she was working as a dental hygienist, and their relationship grew from there.

Their first date was a test to see if she was funny, because that was non-negotiable for Hamill. “I took her to ‘Annie Hall’ to see if she had a sense of humor. I dropped women if they didn’t,” the actor told People Magazine.

But, this was before he had reached his peak “Star Wars” fame, and the relationship came to a halt once he started to be in the spotlight.

“I went to Las Vegas to date 38-year-old showgirls. I wanted to scale all these women. That was exciting for about the first 10 minutes. Eventually, I wanted something to hold onto — and a family,” he told People.

Meanwhile, Marilou always hoped they’d rekindle the spark they’d had initially.

“I ran my own life,” she told People. “But all the time I thought I was good for him, so I was hoping we’d get back together.”

And get back together they most certainly did. And they’ve been together ever since — 40 years now, in fact.

The couple has three children together: Griffin, Chelsea and Nathan, all three of whom made cameos in “Star Wars: The Last Jedi” as Resistance soldiers. So, it’s safe to say this family certainly got used to living with fame.

However, after 40 years together, they’ve also developed techniques to avoid some of the paparazzi, parties and more that go along with Hamill’s celebrity status.

“We don’t live in town, so we don’t go in and do all the party circuits,” Marilou told “Good Morning America.”

And aside from the occasional incognito appearances at Comic-Con, the actor really does manage to stay out of the limelight. But he always shows up for his fans, even though they may not know it on account of his excellent disguises, like this stormtrooper costume he couldn’t help but reveal on Instagram:

Because when it comes to the “Star Wars” franchise, his fans and his family and wife of 40 years, Hamill’s devotion knows no bounds!
