Like the rest of us, celebrities have had their lives turned upside down by the coronavirus pandemic. But not all of them are simply holed up in their mansions with every imaginable luxury at their disposal.
McConaughey shared a photo of them on Instagram aboard a Lincoln truck, with stacks of boxes piled inside as well as on top of the truck’s bed.
“Thanks to @lincoln for donating 110 thousand masks – me and @camilamcconaughey hitting the road to get em to rural hospitals in need across Texas,” the “True Detective” actor wrote in the caption.
It’s not the first time the couple has helped with a much-needed donation. They previously donated 80,000 masks to front line workers in Austin, Texas (where they live with their sons Levi and Livingston and daughter Vida) and New Orleans, Louisiana.
In April, Alves McConaughey told People that they distributed surgical masks and KN95 masks to the workers. “It was important for us to make sure that here in Austin, not just the hospitals got them, but also the police department and the fire department as well.”
“In this moment, we’ve got to find ways to help both sides because they’re all on the front line right now and we can’t afford to lose any of them,” she continued.
The couple is giving back in other ways, too. Last month, they hosted a virtual bingo night for a group of senior living home residents, the video of which went viral.
And McConaughey hasn’t neglected the younger folks in his efforts to make lockdown life a little easier. On May 15, he posted a video to Instagram, filmed from his home, to let the class of 2020 know that it’s alright-alright-alright if they don’t have it all figured out. “I’m 50,” he says. “I have many days when I’m still not quite sure what I want to be.”
Well, he can definitely add virtual bingo caller and face mask delivery person to his resume!
