The temperatures are starting to drop. The days are getting shorter, and the leaves are starting to fall. Halloween will be here before you know it. That means it’s the perfect time to curl up on the couch with a seasonally-appropriate movie or two.
Check out this list of delightfully spooky movies (and shows!) coming to Netflix in October.
1. “Eyes Wide Shut” (October 1)
“Eyes Wide Shut” is definitely an adult movie, so don’t plan on this for family movie night!
Starring former real-life Hollywood power couple Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman, the film is written and directed by Stanley Kubrick. This sexy, dark mystery-thriller is sure to leave you with chills.
2. “Cult of Chucky” (October 3)
The latest installment in the “Chucky” franchise sees the return of the killer doll to settle old scores.
While you might think the “Chucky” movies are too cheesy to offer any genuine thrills, “Cult of Chucky” has a respectable 7.3 out of 10-star rating on imdb.com.
3. “Donnie Darko” (October 11)
Real-life siblings Jake and Maggie Gyllenhaal star as brother and sister in this dark tale about a troubled teenager dealing with visions of disastrous dystopian scenarios. Although it did not originally perform well at the box office when it premiered in 2001, it has since taken on a cult status and has received a plethora of critical acclaim.

4. “Stranger Things,” Season 2 (October 27)
Just in time for Halloween, fans of the Netflix original hit series “Strangers Things” can once again get their fix of the ’80s-themed supernatural mystery that had everyone buzzing last year. The show tells the story of a group of kids in a small town who stumble upon a dark underworld called “the Upside Down” and — well, it’s complicated.
If you still need to catch up on Season 1, you can still stream that on Netflix as well.
5. “Slasher: Guilty Party” (October 17)
Another Netflix original, Season 2 follows a young woman who returns to the small town where her parents were murdered when history repeats itself as a spate of new murders begins.
