If you have a pooch you like to spoil, you probably know all about PetSmart’s free ice cream for dogs every July as a way to celebrate National Ice Cream Day.

Though it’s usually offered at their PetSmart PetsHotels locations across the country, due to the pandemic, PetSmart is now offering some ice cream recipes for dog parents everywhere to make their four-legged friends a treat at home.

The retailer is offering three recipes for you to make yourself. All call for yogurt and honey, then a few different ingredients, depending on which one you’re making. You will need a blender or whisk and ice cube tray for all three.

Here are PetSmart’s recipes for peanut butter, banana bacon and sweet & savory apple ice cream for dogs:

Peanut Butter

1 cup plain or low-fat yogurt
1 tablespoon natural peanut butter
1 tablespoon organic raw honey
Optional: savory treat

Banana Bacon

1 cup plain or low-fat yogurt
1 banana, mashed
1 tablespoon organic raw honey
Optional: bacon-flavored treat

Sweet & Savory Apple

1 cup plain or low-fat yogurt
1 apple, chopped
1 tablespoon organic raw honey
Optional: savory treat

The directions are the same for all three recipes: Mix all ingredients in a blender or whisk together. Place mixture in an ice cube tray or small cups. Freeze overnight, then remove one serving and top with a savory treat for your pup to enjoy.

If you’re looking for even more variety, Rover.com also offers multiple recipes. You can even make it easier than whipping it up from scratch by purchasing this ice cream mix from Amazon, as all you’ll need to do is add water and freeze the results.

Of course, it shouldn’t just be your furry friend that gets a treat on National Ice Cream Day — you deserve one, too!

You’ll want to check your local ice cream shops for deals, but nationally, Baskin-Robbins is giving out a free scoop on orders of $15 or more through DoorDash with promo code BASKINSCOOP. Dairy Queen hasn’t announced any deals yet, but keep an eye out, as they might as well.

If you’d rather make your own but don’t have an ice cream maker, ice cream sandwiches are pretty easy to whip up and can be made in a variety of flavors. From chocolate chip cookie dough to blueberry pie, here are 10 ice cream sandwiches you can make right at home.
