A Father Created A Real-Life Elf On A Shelf, Because Nothing Could Be Cuter [Photos]

If you want cuteness overload, look no further than Alan Lawrence’s four-month-old son-turned-real-life-Elf-on-the-Shelf, Rockwell.

“We have never had an ‘Elf on the Shelf’ in our home but the idea has always intrigued me,” Alan said to LittleThings. “Then one day someone told us that Rockwell looked like an elf, and [the] idea came to me. What if a real life elf came to live with us for the holidays and how would I react in real life to having it show up to live with us.”

The Elf on the Shelf trend started a decade ago and the elves act as Santa’s helpers to see who’s been naughty and nice. Then, they report to him nightly on their findings.

These days, there’s all types of elves to choose from, including the traditional elf, one in pajamas, and many more. And Elf on the Shelf owners have their elves get into all sorts of trouble around the house, taking pictures of them in various situations, from innocent to more precarious.

In Lawrence’s case, he catches his “elf” making (adorable) mischief in the house.

Here are a few pics and excerpts from Lawrence’s blog and Facebook posts tracking his elf’s every move. If they don’t make your Christmas and holidays bright, I don’t know what will! But be warned: Prepare to want your own real-life Elf on a Shelf!

Flipped on the lights and caught him red handed. Somebody needs to start earning his keep around here.#rocktheelf #elfontheshelf
