You Can Now Buy Flavored Sparkling Water Infused With CBD

Recess

Flavored sparkling water is all the rage these days, and now people are taking their bubbly drinks to another level with a little something extra. First, there was alcoholic sparkling water, and now there is CBD- and adaptogen-infused seltzer.

Recess seltzer comes in peach ginger, pom hibiscus and blackberry chai flavors, and each can is infused with full-spectrum hemp extract oil, which contains all of the cannabinoids found in the plant, including CBD. Each can of Recess contains 10 mg of CBD.

CBD, otherwise known as cannabidiol, is the non-psychoactive compound found in cannabis. CBD does not cause a high, but has been touted for providing relief from a variety of conditions, including chronic pain, insomnia and anxiety. It has also shown success in treating certain forms of epilepsy.

It’s showing up in a number of products, including capsules, sleep sprays, oil drops, bath bombs, massage lotions and pet treats. Laws regarding the legality of CBD and CBD-containing products vary from state to state.

As you can see, the pastel-colored cans are Instagram-worthy:

In addition to CBD, Recess seltzer also contains adaptogens, which are herbs that are believed to have healing properties. According to Recess, the adaptogens in their drinks include American ginseng, which improves focus and memory, L-theanine, which reduces stress with the help of green tea and Schisandra, which boosts immunity and promotes balance.

“We all have too many tabs open in our browsers and in our brains,” reads Recess’ website. “That’s why we made Recess: Each can is a moment to reset and rebalance. It’s how you wish that 2 p.m. coffee would make you feel.”

They are sold online for $39.99 for an eight-can can pack of a single flavor, and $30 for a six-can variety pack. Each can is between 15 and 25 calories, with between 4 and 6 grams of sugar, depending on the flavor.
