Reading celebrity interviews is always great. It’s nice to finally get a glimpse inside of the people we see on our TV and movie screens. But every once in a while, you come across a gem.
That’s precisely what this quote about Blake Lively from Ryan Reynolds is. Reynolds spoke to the blog Humans of New York about his wife during an interview at the Met Gala, and his words couldn’t be more heartfelt and genuine.
Just when you thought this couple couldn’t get any cuter, Reynolds had to go and say this:
She always responds with empathy. She meets anger with empathy. She meets hate with empathy. She’ll take the time to imagine what happened to a person when they were 5 or 6 years old. And she’s made me a more empathetic person. I had a very fractured relationship with my father. Before he died, she made me remember things I didn’t want to remember. She made me remember the good times.

Wow.
The Humans of New York Instagram account captured this sweet picture and quote, and of course, Blake Lively, reportedly “liked” it. The couple couldn’t look more in love all snuggled up together, and it really is quite touching to see.
If you’re not familiar with Humans of New York, you should definitely check out the website because what started out as a project to photograph 10,000 New Yorkers turned into a great place to go and learn about the people that make up New York City, and now, other cities across the globe.

Lively and Reynolds aren’t always this sweet to each other on Instagram, however. Lively recently posted a photo professing her love and admiration for “the best man” she knows. The photo had Reynolds and John Legend in it. She went on to say, “If only my husband wasn’t blocking you in this shot,” as a joke to make it seem as though all of her praise was directed toward Legend. Ha!
These two know how to have fun, but they also are very much in love and help each other with the difficult parts of life. Reynolds’ words only prove it.
