Not only is Ryan Reynolds notoriously funny on Instagram, but he and Betty White also happen to have a special connection.
So if you thought she was going to have a birthday and not receive some teasing from Reynolds online—you thought wrong!
If you recall, Reynolds played her grandson in “The Proposal” back in 2009. So, naturally, Reynolds had to do something to honor the actress on her big day.
White turned 96 on Jan. 17, and Reynolds celebrated by sending her a hilarious birthday message that will definitely have you LOLing.
He posted the message to his personal Instagram account. The photo shows Reynolds’ “Deadpool” character holding a martini and a hot dog while sitting in front of a picture of White herself eating a hot dog.
He captioned the image, “Happy Birthday to the one and only @bettywhite! Cheers to another year of ‘Tinis and Weenies!” How perfect!

This is either part of an inside joke or a reference to an interview White gave in which she told Parade magazine her secret to living a long, happy life: You see, she loves enjoying vodka and hot dogs, and “probably in that order,” she told the magazine. Cheers to that!
Of course, she also pointed out that it’s more than just “‘tinis and weenies” that make for a happy life. In her opinion, it’s taking time to always find the positive in situations.
“Enjoy life,” she said. “Accentuate the positive, not the negative. It sounds so trite, but a lot of people will pick out something to complain about, rather than say, ‘Hey, that was great!’ It’s not hard to find great stuff if you look.”
And if White is doling out advice, we’re certainly prepared to take it! The actress has had quite an incredible career and life. She’s been in show business for more than 75 years, which she says has taken a good amount of determination.
“You just keep plugging away,” she told Parade about trying to make it as an actress in her 20s. “You don’t give up.”
And throughout her life and her career, she’s been able to learn some very important things about herself—one of which definitely helps to explain her success.
“I’m a workaholic, and I’ve long since given up trying to get over that,” she told the The New York Times in 2011.
We’re so glad she learned to embrace it! Because where would we be without the “Golden Girls” and so many more iconic White roles?
Happy 96th birthday to the actress, and here’s to more hilarious moments to come! Now, let’s all go celebrate with some vodka and hot dogs. White wouldn’t want it any other way!
