San Francisco Giants to unveil new Pride logo on caps, jerseys
Pride Month is being showcased in many ways as the summer kicks off. This annual celebration and recognition of the LGBTQ+ community’s quest for acceptance and its contributions to society have brought about many colorful tributes, including new products such as Kellogg’s Together with Pride and the rainbow flag-inspired Lego Everyone is Awesome set.
One of the most visible tributes yet will happen in sports on June 5, when MLB’s San Francisco Giants will wear jerseys and hats that honor the LGBTQ+ community during the team’s game against the Chicago Cubs at Oracle Park. That stadium, which the Giants call home, is already rocking the Pride colors on palm trees located right outside the park, as seen in this June 1 Twitter post.

“The San Francisco Giants will kick off Pride Month by wearing an SF logo Pride Patch on the right sleeve of their home jersey and a custom cap that incorporates the Pride colors into the SF log,” the team shared on its Twitter account, which also displayed the new team logo created for Pride Month as its profile picture.

This move marks the first time an MLB team will display Pride colors during a game.
In a statement, Giants manager Gabe Kapler said he was looking forward to the new uniforms.
“[I’m] very proud that the San Francisco Giants are taking this step, very proud to be a part of it, and looking forward to the impact and the support that we can provide for the LGBTQ+ community,” Kapler said.
The standard Giants cap logo, which has the iconic, intertwined “SF” in orange, has been redesigned to reflect the colors of the Pride flag.
The new logo mirrors the Pride flag, which contains 11 colors: the original rainbow hues of red, orange, yellow, green, blue and purple, along with black and brown to honor LGTBQ+ persons of color and light blue, pink and white to recognize transgender people.
“We are extremely proud to stand with the LGBTQ+ community as we kick off one of the best annual celebrations in San Francisco by paying honor to the countless achievements and contributions of all those who identify as LGBTQ+ and are allies of the LGBTQ+ community,” said Giants CEO Larry Baer.
Fans can order Giants caps with the new Pride logo from MLB.com for $39.99 for a limited time.
