Target has a line of adaptive Halloween costumes and accessories for kids of every ability

Target

For years, parents of children who use wheelchairs have been making them some pretty amazing Halloween costumes. Take, for example, this mom who turned her daughter’s wheelchair into Cinderella’s carriage. Or how about this dad, whose costume for his son turned into a nonprofit called Magic Wheelchair that now creates costumes for other kids in wheelchairs as well.

Target is now making Halloween even easier for parents and children who need adaptive costumes with an entire costume line that incorporates wheelchairs into the design or are designed for those with sensory needs. From mermaids and dragons to princesses and witches, there are multiple costumes to choose from.

Adaptive Princess Carriage Costume

Priced at $20 for the costume and $35 for the wheelchair decorations, the total cost of this adaptive princess carriage costume is $55. If your child already has a princess costume, it will be just $35 for the decorations.

The decoration kit includes wheelchair wheel covers and side covers with hook-and-loop fasteners, plus a crown that matches the rest of the decor. It is for ages 4+.

Adaptive Robot Halloween Costume

While this one does not have matching accessories, this $30 adaptive robot costume is wheelchair-friendly and designed for those with sensory needs.

It comes with a long-sleeve top, a pair of pants and a helmet. It features openings at the back for easy dressing, whether your child is comfortable getting dressed on their own or needs a helping hand.

Adaptive Pirate Ship Halloween Costume

This pirate ship wheelchair cover set is $35 and includes intricate detailing, a black Jolly Roger flag and decorative covers for the wheels that look like waves.

If you don’t already have a pirate costume to go with the accessories, you can get one for $25.

Adaptive Mermaid Kids Costume

Like the other wheelchair adaptive costumes, the costume and wheelchair covers for this adaptive mermaid costume are sold separately. The dress is $30 while the wheelchair kit is $35 and comes with wheel covers and side covers made to look like shells and starfish.

Because the dress is sold separately, you could also create your own mermaid costume if you’re just wanting the decorations. Take a look at this DIY mermaid blanket that is not only a costume, but will also keep your child warm if you’ll be outside on Halloween.

Along with the line of costumes, Target also released its entire 2020 Halloween Hyde and Eek Boutique line and it is full of must-have goodies.

It includes golden pumpkin wine stoppers, pumpkin embellishment kits, realistic masks and even this adorable hand votive candle holder for just $5, so there is plenty to choose from. These items are going fast, though!
