The ‘Toy Story 4’ trailer is just as adorable and funny as you’d hoped
“Toy Story 4” has been a long time coming. Word that a fourth “Toy Story” movie was in the works started making the rounds two years ago, and now — finally — there’s a trailer to get you even more excited for this upcoming film, which will hit theaters June 21, 2019.
The brief “teaser trailer” has been officially released, and while it is short and sweet, it still manages to show off some of our favorite characters and even introduce a new one, Forky, who is technically not a toy. Will he pose some problems for Woody and the rest of the gang? Based on the adorably funny trailer, quite possibly!
Watch the official trailer from the Disney-Pixar YouTube channel:
According to a write-up released with the trailer on YouTube, “Woody has always been confident about his place in the world and that his priority is taking care of his kid, whether that’s Andy or Bonnie. But when Bonnie adds a reluctant new toy called ‘Forky’ to her room, a road trip adventure alongside old and new friends will show Woody how big the world can be for a toy.”
It’s a thrill for fans to see that Woody’s adventures can still continue, even though his journey with Andy, his original owner, is over. Even the film’s director thought the third movie and Woody’s parting with Andy would be the end for the iconic “Toy Story” toys.
“Like most people, I assumed that ‘Toy Story 3’ was the end of the story. And it was the end of Woody’s story with Andy,” director Josh Cooley said in a statement provided to E! News. “But just like in life, every ending is a new beginning. Woody now being in a new room, with new toys, and a new kid, was something we have never seen before. The questions of what that would be like became the beginning of an entertaining story worth exploring.”
Based on the reactions online since the trailer’s release, “Toy Story”-lovers can’t wait for this film to arrive. As Twitter user @psychedelicnoel points out, this movie will bring out the kid in everyone:

If you were wondering if this fourth film was going to have you in tears, the fact that Tom Hanks, who voices Woody, could barely get through his own final scenes might be some indication. In an interview on the BBC’s “The Chris Evans Breakfast Show,” he revealed that the magnitude of recording those final moments was emotionally overwhelming. “When I realized what they were going for, I realized, ‘Oh, this is a moment in history,'” he said.
