This cool tool will help you meet up with long-distance friends and loved ones

If you’ve ever been in a long-distance relationship, or you simply have friends or family who live far away, you know how difficult it can be to find a way to see each other. Between the financial costs and the time associated with travel, odds are most people don’t get together as much as they’d like.

A new tool from KAYAK, however, might just change that. Called Rendezvous, the website takes what KAYAK is known for — helping you price out airfare, hotels and rental cars — and uses it to help you and your loved one find the cheapest place to meet.

Here’s how it works: You simply enter your two cities into the website and KAYAK Rendezvous will suggest new and exciting destinations at which you can meet, determined by the combined lowest airfare cost.

For example, if you live in New York City and your family member or friend lives in Austin, Texas, Rendezvous shows that the most affordable destination is in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. At the time of this writer’s search, that trip cost a total of $217 for both flights.

Or say you and your loved one are in Louisville, Kentucky, and Nashville, Tenessee. Rendezvous will have you meet up in San Antonio, Texas. Missoula, Montana, to Denver, Colorado? You’re heading to Chicago!

The tool also gives you other options in addition to that top result, so you don’t have to choose the cheapest one. If you’re willing to spend a bit more, you can just pick a different city that sounds more intriguing to the both of you.

Once you’ve decided where you’ll go, just click on “find flights,” and then either “find your flight” or “find their flight.” Book your trip and you’ll be seeing each other in no time!

Will you be using KAYAK’s new Rendezvous tool to spend more quality time with friends and family?
